It’s the start of a new season for professional cricket team the Southern Scorpions, and batter Ellie, 32, is returning to the game after a long injury. She’s determined to cap her career by regaining a place in the England squad and fulfilling the dream of playing a Test Match at Lord’s.
Ardent fan Adam, an artist and photographer, has followed Ellie and the team through highs and lows. He’s drawn to her talent, athleticism and public persona—but doesn’t harbour romantic intentions.
When events on and off the pitch throw Ellie and Adam into close proximity, a shared trauma emerges, followed quickly by an easy, open friendship.
Feeding off their mutual support, Ellie’s cricketing form blossoms, as does Adam’s business.
Yet, with romance in the air, Ellie loses focus on her game, potentially damaging her chances of success.
