Cattingley Town FC (“The Cats”) are a minor league football club in peril. Their results often hinge on the pitch-side antics of their mascot, Snowy. If Tom, the sweet but laid-back guy behind the costume, is happy, the team wins. This season, his love life is dour, and The Cats are heading for relegation. Added to that, the football ground is being eyed up by developers.
When feisty physiotherapist Laura joins the club, Tom is instantly smitten. However, not only is she already dating the striker from rival club Myston Rovers (“The Mice”), she’s out of his league. But if he can win her over, Snowy will regain his mojo, and maybe The Cats will be safe.
Quickly, Laura wonders whether this team of no-hopers are worth her trouble. How will it help her dream of marrying a Premiership star? She only took this job out of a sense of community spirit… but there’s something likeable about the guy inside the ridiculous cat costume… isn’t there?
After a frosty start, things thaw between the pair. They realise they need to be on the same team, or it’s game over.
However, Tom has never worked hard for anything. Is she really worth all the effort?
After all, it’s only football.
Isn’t it?
"This is a sports romcom with great character development as both MCs take control of their lives.
Laura is a strong female lead and Tom isn’t your usual love interest - but that’s what makes this story interesting!"
He needs to score.
She needs to pull off a great save.
Or it’s game over.
"Was so excited to see a new book released by Chrissie Harrison, as I loved their first book 'Floored'.
Great read, full of charm and loveable characters! Would recommend."
